The Church

Jesus said to "...Love Thy Neighbor..."

The Church is in a location  where it is the highest watched program in the nieghborhood for gang activity. Gangs here recruit kids at the age of six. The deadliest gang in Fresno, "The Modoc Boys" live in the area. The church purposefully located in the center of the area. The purpose of the church is to meet the need s of the community, spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The church has a soup and sandwitch kitchen providing a free hot meal everyday at 12:00 Noon, five days a week for the elderly people and the homeless.

'One day I was in the front of the church raking the yard and a lady in her mid-sixties walked by and went into the house next door. When she came out, she stopped and talked with me in a very happy manner. She was carrying a bag in her hand and she said, "Every month, my social security check rins out and I don't have any money to buy food The people in that house always help me with food for the rest of the month." Right then, I knew that God was saying open up the back of the church for a feeding kitchen, and that's what we did.'

The first Friday of the month is when we bring out all the kind in the neighborhood, and we have people there that get their attention through dance and music. The purpose is to redirect their lives and discourage gang and drug affiliation. We do this by showing them with films or ex-gang members what usually happens to kids when they get involved in drugs and gangs; they either end up dead or spend their lives in prision. We encourage them to pursue God, education, church, getting involved with the church, and respect for their neighborhood, build their community up, and respect the older people in the community.

We also have an outdoor stage. Here we have outdoor concerts, break dancing, Christian rap, and other wholesome things younger people are excited about. The third Friday of the month we have a violence prevention meeting at the church and it's made up of twenty+ mothers who have one thing in common... all their son's have been murdered in the streets. We talk about ways to get the community involved in a non-violent atmosphere, we have a conference banquet and block parties. We are exposing Feed My Sheep Ministries out to the community and recruiting volunteers. The purpose is to support spiritual, emotional, and physical support of the families of the victims who have been killed on the streets. This is for the people who's family members have been murdered. We also provide many other services for these families.

For more information about these services, please contact Rev. Bruce Hood.

(John 21:17) He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
